about us
Our funding
Over 100 climate experts contributed to the gap analysis that led to Climate Catalyst being established. We became a sponsored project of Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors in 2021, and launched our first programmes in early 2022. We rely on the generous support of philanthropic funders and to date our funding has been wholly provided from charitable grants gifted by trusts, foundations and major donors.
We thank our funders for their support to the ongoing development of Climate Catalyst and our impactful programmes.
We welcome new collaborations and partnerships. Please contact us if you would like to find out more, or see here for more information.
Our team of twenty-five are located worldwide, primarily Europe and India, and we are already proving the value we add and helping accelerate change to bend the curve on greenhouse gas emissions. Our progress to date has been made possible by the wisdom, support and advice of our funders, advisory board, Strategic Council, and the organisations with whom we collaborate.
Understanding fiscal sponsorship: A clear guide for donors
Wondering what a sponsored project is? You’re not alone! This innovative approach allows individuals and groups like Climate Catalyst to make a difference without establishing their own non-profit organisation.
Think of it this way: a sponsored project is like a seedling with a strong, established tree to help it grow. The project itself, full of potential and purpose, doesn’t yet have the legal or administrative framework to accept funding directly. That’s where the fiscal sponsor, the established non-profit, comes in. In our case, the fiscal sponsor is Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors, and they act as our legal umbrella, providing essential services like:
- Accepting tax-deductible donations on our behalf
- Managing our finances and ensuring accountability
- Handling legal and regulatory aspects
- Offering guidance and support
